Peony's Envy is dedicated to the cultivation of tree and herbaceous peonies. Our peonies are known to be some of the best on the market - in size, quality, and species. Not only our our roots exceptional but each peony comes to you individually packaged in potting mix and beautifully labeled with all of the cultivars information. Planted correctly these plants will last for generations, see our peony care page for more information.

What to Expect - Herbaceous Peonies
Our herbaceous peonies are root divisions containing three to five eyes [pink or white buds that located on the root that will become next years stems] and a substantial root system. Whether planted spring or fall you can expect these roots to send up several shoots the first year. When planning a perennial garden remember the old saying, "first year roots, second year shoots, third year flowers".
The yellow peony, golden wheel, should be expected to grow slower and be a bit smaller to start as it is bred for the color and not quite as vigorous.

What to Expect - Suffruticosa Tree Peonies - shipped fall only
Our Suffruticosa Tree Peonies are on their own root [they are not grafted to a herbaceous root system]. This means that any shoots that emerge from the ground should be encouraged to grow as they are true to species and will help provide a fuller bush. This also means that if by chance someone cuts down your tree peony [a horrible thought] it can re-emerge from the root system.
Our tree peonies have three to five branches on a strong root system. These plants are some of the largest tree peonies you will find anywhere.

What to Expect - Gansu Mudan Tree Peonies - shipped fall only
Our Gansu Mudan Peonies are incredibly large tree peonies grafted to a herbaceous root. These cultivars are some of our absolute favorite plants - they are incredibly vigorous with showy flowers. The gansu mudan cultivars have three to five strong woody branches.

Shipping Time
Spring shipments of herbaceous peonies begin late March as the ground unthaws (tree peonies only ship in the fall). All orders placed between April 1st and October will be shipped during the fall planting season - plants can not be shipped during this time as they are in their growing phase and are too delicate to be sent through the mail. Fall shipments typically begin the last week in October, exact timing is dependent on the weather conditions for the year and the plants themselves.

In fall and early winter plants are shipped as the orders are received and can be expected a week to ten days after the order is processed. Peony's Envy does have potted plants for sale at the farm in Bernardsville, NJ from May 1 - June 15.

Shipping Information
Peony's Envy ships all plants Priority Mail through the US Postal Service. Tree peonies are typically shipped individually in long tubes, and herbaceous peonies are shipped in boxes of up to six plants. Because of this Peony's Envy charges shipping cost based on price. For every one hundred and forty four dollars in spending there is a $15 shipping charge to account for the number of boxes that will need to be sent. All peonies come beautifully wrapped and individually tagged and bagged, and make beautiful gifts. If you are wanting a gift card included in the box please call for details or write the information in the comments section of your order.

Peony's Envy ships plants to all of the contiguous states and Alaska. Due to the live nature of our plants we can not ship them overseas. Peony's grow well in zones 3-8. We do not recommend planting peonies outside of these zones as they will not survive. For more information on your horticultural zone visit the National Gardening Associations website.

Tax
Peony's Envy charges state tax to those within our home state of New Jersey. Tax is computed using the shipping zip code.

Guarantee
Peony's Envy guarantees all plants to be in good health and in prime condition for growing at time of delivery. Peony’s Envy can not guarantee plants once they are out of our control, as the influence of planting conditions, weather, and care dominate the plants continued survival. All plants come with instructions on planting, for detailed information on caring for your peonies see our peony care pages.

Refund Policy
If you are dissatisfied with the plant contact Peony's Envy within five days of delivery and return the plant for a replacement or refund of the purchase price. If you have questions on your peonies please feel free to contact us via email or phone as we are happy to help you with any problems or concerns.

Peony's Envy respects the privacy of every person who shops with us. When you place an order online, all personal information you give Peony's Envy is kept private. We will not share or sell your name, address, or any other personal information you provide. For those who choose to receive our occasional e-mails, we do not share, rent, or sell e-mail address to outside companies or agencies.
